The mission of Wrenegade Foundation is to leave Wrenegade Sports event host communities better than we found them. We have an innovative approach to supporting social-benefit organizations that positively and tangibly impact the event host communities.
Wrenegade Sports founder and former professional cyclist Tyler Wren started the Foundation with support from family, friends, sponsors, and the cycling community. Beginning with its first cycling event in Rensselaerville, NY, in 2014 Wrenegade Sports set the standard for giving back to the host community.
Wrenegade Foundation is nonprofit organization that works in partnership with Wrenegade Sports. In addition to the direct and indirect economic benefits that mass-start events bring to a region, this giving model directly impacts the organizations and people that are the heartbeat of the community. “It is the people, small businesses, and organizations that make these communities the unique places they are,” says founder Tyler Wren. “Wrenegade Sports fosters a sense of responsibility to preserve the places we enjoy, and the Foundation channels that support into the community.”
As the numbers of event participants grew, so did the number of organizations and groups that benefited from the revenue the events generated. Since 2014, more than $90,000 has been given to school groups, food shelves and shelters, and other nonprofits that work to make life in event host communities better.
In April 2018 Wrenegade Foundation was established in Vermont. 501(c)3 federal tax exempt status is pending. The Foundation is proud to partner with the Vermont Farmers Market Education Center in Rutland, VT, our fiscal sponsor.
